Report on Eastnor Castle Visit
On Tuesday 4th February a hardy group of 25 members of the Historical Buildings Group braved the cold to visit Eastnor Castle near Ledbury. Fortunately, the interior of the castle was pleasantly warm and we were treated to a fact-filled tour by a very knowledgeable guide, who gave us an insight into the history of the castle and its past owners, and guided us on a tour of the well-appointed and yet comfortable state rooms. We were then allowed to wander and explore the 12 bedrooms upstairs, now used by guests attending weddings and other functions in the castle and to admire the expansive views of the lake and grounds. Sadly our plans to explore the gardens and grounds of the castle were thwarted by the rain, though some of us went on to enjoy lunch in Ledbury. Altogether an enjoyable day out for all. Paul McDonald
